My Vision for India- Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
My Vision for India
My Vision for India is
a speech delivered by India’s former president Dr. A.P.J. Abdul kalam. In this
essay, Kalam talks bitterly of irresponsible people of our country and he tries
to make people realise their duties and motivate them to build a stronger
India.
His
Three Visions
Dr. Abdul kalam had
three visions for India. The first vision is that of FREEDOM. He believes that
India got its first vision in 1857 when we started the war of Independence. He
stresses that we have not conquered any nations and have not grabbed their
lands and culture. The second vision is that of DEVELOPMENT. The poverty level
of India is falling. India is among top five nations in the world in terms of
GDP. We have to see ourselves as a developed nation. The third vision for India
is STRENGTH. He says that India must be strong not only as a military power but
also as an economic power. He has a good fortune to work with three great
minds, Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Department of space, Prof. Satish Dhawan and Dr. Brahm
Prakash, father of nuclear material.
Milestones
in his career
The First is, he was
given the opportunity to be the project director for India’s first satellite
launch vehicle, SLV3. The second is, he has joined DRDO and got a chance to be
the part of India’s missile program. His third bliss is, participating in a
nuclear test and proving to the world that India can make it. When an
Orthopaedic surgeon visited him, he asked to remove the pain of his patients that
the little girls and boys with heavy metallic callipers weighing over three kg
each dragging their feet around. Within three weeks, he made Orthosis 300gm
callipers and took them to the Orthopaedic centre. This is his fourth bliss.
Kalam
criticizes the Indian media
Abdul kalam criticizes
the Indian media for its negative outlook. He questioned that why we are so
embarrassed to recognize our strengths and achievements. Our media is only
obsessed in the failures and disasters. Once kalam was read an Israeli
newspaper found the front page had a picture of Jewish gentleman who in five
years had transformed the desert into an orchid and a granary. It was the day
after a lot of attacks and bombardments there. They highlighted only such
constructive matters as an old Jewish gentleman. We are so much obsessed with
foreign things and technology. According to him, self-respect comes with self-reliance.
In India, we keep
complaining against the government. In foreign countries people do not throw
cigarette butts in public places. They throw them only into the garbage pail. We
violate our rules without any hesitation. We corrupt higher authorities. This is
not done in foreign countries. We go to the polls to choose a government and thinking
that our responsibilities are over. We sit back expecting the government to do
everything for us. We protest loudly against social problems but commit the
same in our personal lives. Kalam wants
Indians to do everything in their power to raise India to the level of other
western countries. He is fervent that India should improve in all fields.
